In this workshop, you will:
explore how rhythm and musical interaction can support awareness, connection, and emotional regulation in real time, through listening, group improvisation, and hands-on sound exploration
engage in group music-making as a relational and responsive process
notice how sound and silence shape interaction and emotional states
reflect on how these experiences can be carried into everyday or professional contexts
Who is this workshop for?
Adults (20+)
Human service professionals, government, and non-government workers, people in the private sector who wish to incorporate the use of the arts in health into their contexts, expressive arts enthusiasts with no access to local training, artists
No musical background required; the space is neuroaffirmative, and participants are free to participate in ways that feel comfortable to them

Resource Person
Thea Tolentino
RMT
Althea Danielle P. Tolentino is a registered music therapist (RMT) and an active member of the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). She graduated with a Master's degree in Music Therapy from the University of Melbourne and worked with a variety of populations including children and adolescents with autism, older adults with dementia, children and adults with multiple disabilities, and hospice care.
She founded Better with Music Philippines, a movement focused on promoting mental, emotional, and social well-being through music. Through this initiative, she has organized practical workshops, informative talks, and seminars in various settings to make music therapy more accessible to Filipinos. Currently, she serves as a senior lecturer at the Music Education Department of UP Diliman.
Thea believes that musicking is a powerful tool for discovering purpose and making meaningful connections both with the self and with others. She is passionate about supporting creativity, self-empowerment, and self-expression through music.

No, but you may incorporate the use of expressive arts within your current practice. In order to practice as an expressive arts therapist, further studies are required. The European Graduate school with whom TAHI is affiliated offers an MA in Expressive Arts Therapy program. More details can be found at this link

Each workshop indicates if it is online, face-to-face, or a combination of both. If you are not based in Metro Manila, you may have to make special arrangements in order to attend any face-to-face sessions. We can provide you with a list of options for accommodations upon request.
